This will be Bill and Floy Ranell’s 25th Anniversary with the Fred Astaire Dance organization. They first opened their studio in Cupertino, then moved to Santa Clara in the Mervyn Plaza. Since 2010, students and instructors alike have enjoyed dancing in their current location at 1258 S. Bascom Avenue, San Jose, CA 95128.
The Tournament of Champions concluded its second week with Italian Night on Friday, November 29th. There were over 80 party goers who were trying their best to burn off the Thanksgiving feast they had the previous day by dancing it off. But it proved to be futile as everyone feasted upon a delicious Italian spread of hot lasagna, salad with Italian dressing, garlic bread and wine later in the evening.
To celebrate Italian Night, most everyone came dressed in red, white and/or green. Among this night’s party goers were 30 newcomers from The Singles Club. They received a warm welcome to the festivities as instructors and seasoned dance students alike took the newcomers onto the dance floor and had them dancing.
The second week of the Tournament of Champions is deemed a run away success as the Black Friday doorbusters did not deter the studio’s dedicated students from burning up the dance floor.
The upcoming third week will be most exciting and thrilling as this will be the James Bond Party-Casino Royale. Who will be drinking a martini, shaken not stirred: Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, or Daniel Craig? Which Bond girl will be heating up the dance floor with Agent 007: Honey Ryder, Pussy Galore, Jill Masterson (Golden Girl), Mary Goodnight, Plenty O’Toole, Octopussy, or Solitaire? Come join M, Q and Miss Moneypenny on Friday night at M16 Headquarters for some exploding action and espionage fun.
